Dirty Dancing
A made-for-tv musical adaptation of the 1987 coming-of-age classic. The story takes place during the summer of 1963 in the Catskill Mountains. Similar to the original, the adaptation’s design concept depicts a loose interpretation of the time period by mixing swingin’ sixities style with dashes of modernity to make it palatable for today’s general television audience. This show marked my first job as an assistant costume designer for tv; I assisted costume designer Lisa Padovani on location in North Carolina. I was the sole assistant designer, and as a result I wore many hats: I sourced, fit numerous performers, managed the budget, and more.
